Today, My mom would of been 52.

Today is a sad day. My mom who passed on Sept 3rd, 2011 she would of been 52 today. such a young age. I miss her so much. Strange not calling her and picking on her because of her silly age. Funny how we take the small things for granted.

October = Breast Cancer Month

Do you watch the NFL? Okay, football? Are you noticing the Pink shoes, gloves, towels, and wrist bands? You know what it means? Well, I'm gonna tell ya! It means, Breast Cancer Awareness month!!! That's right, it's time to talk about the Ta-Ta's. The twin sisters. The Hooters. The Boob's. Whatever you call your breast, it's time to pay them some attention. That mean you too MEN!! (I see you, yeah you, I know your male...yes, you can get breast cancer too, don't believe me--Men and Breast Cancer)

Now ladies. Breast Cancer or any cancer for that matter doesn't care what color, greed, origin, age, height, weight, money, social status, or life style you are. Cancer doesn't ask for an invite, it won't call for a warning, and you will receive no letter. It is up to you to know your body. It is up to you to know the signs. Simple breast checks in the shower or right before you go to bed is all it takes. Help your doctor help you. 

Let me tell you a little story. 

For those that don't know me, I will be 32 this month. I have had 8 mammograms this year. Why? Because I found a lump. I told my doctor upon my next visit. They found the lump. I was one of the lucky ones, and they found it non-cancerous. It was just a Fibroadenomas. What is that? Well, it's a lump that scares the living day lights out of you. However, its common yet the down side, it can turn ugly. So I will get checked more frequently, and I am okay with that. Better safe than sorry. 

My point is, if you do your checks and you find a lump, don't jump to conclusions. Talk to your doctor. There is no need to be scared of doing your self checks. BUT YOU NEED TO DO YOUR CHECKS!! The sooner you find~~the better your chances. And like my case, now we know that I have one lump and it will always be checked to make sure it doesn't change to being something more serious.

Fighting Cancer One PoP at a Time

Welcome to Cake PoPs Unlimited!!

This is the place were you can treat yourself and fight Cancer all at the same time.

Let me explain how this all started. On 9/03/2011 my mother passed away from Esophageal Cancer stage 4. They found it in Feb of 2011 and told her it was too late. In my eyes, and I am sure in everyone's eyes, this was not good enough. For the year of 2010, they (as in the doctors) were treating her as if she had Acid Re flux or possible heart disease. And mind you she had no insurance, she was paying all these doctors and tests out of her pocket. Finally, when she couldn't eat no more and her husband had had enough of the lost weight and no answers, he took her to the ER on February 13th, and on Feb. 14th 2011 they gave her the news that would change everything.

My mother was a cake decorator. She loved to bake, sew, crochet, and do crazy puzzles. She loved people. She loved life. She was a fighter right till the end. Now, I am not going to sit here and tell you she was the perfect woman and the perfect mother, because by all means she wasn't, but she was Jerri Lepera. She was her own woman, and she was a good enough mother to me, that I am who I am today because of her.

We have a wall for everything else, but the for these brave souls who fight Cancer every day with a smile, with a struggle, with a hidden tear. And for the rest of us, we have to watch them. Watch them fight, and know that if we could do anything to help we would, but we can't help them physically battle the war inside. But let's stand together and we CAN fight Cancer so that our loved ones don't have to fight alone!!
